Aggreko has successfully designed, installed and commissioned a 60MW power plant for Minera Escondida Ltd (part of the BHP Billiton group) to provide a back-up power supply for the largest copper mine in the world, located in northern Chile.
In order to ensure that the turbines would be able to operate at full capacity, Aggreko carried out several load tests during a 45-day period to commission the turbines using resistive and reactive load banks.
