19 October 2011: Sao Paulo, Brasil – Aggreko, the world leader in the provision of temporary power and temperature control services, is an official sponsor of the Infraestrutura Energética para Copa e Olimpiadas conference, running from the 19th to the 20th of October in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The event will focus on the energy infrastructure requirements of the major upcoming events in Brazil, namely the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics.
The conference will bring together representatives from both government and industry, with many of the delegates being drawn from companies operating in energy and construction. With the world’s two largest sporting events coming to Brazil in the next few years, representatives from both the public and private sectors are working to identify the gaps and opportunities to improve the infrastructure of the country.
Aggreko has a wealth of experience in providing temporary power to many of the world’s largest and most high profile cultural and sporting events. The knowledge and expertise acquired through supplying such events gives Aggreko a keen insight into the fundamental issues around how to successfully supply the immense and often complex power demands of such major events.
Utilising temporary power solutions for large-scale events is often more appropriate for a short-term need than investing in permanent infrastructure, which can be surplus to requirements once the event is over. "With less disruption, more flexibility, lower costs and no capital or maintenance expense for the hosts, temporary solutions play an essential part of events on this scale," says Diogenes Paoli Neto, Managing Director, Aggreko South America. "Once the temporary power facility is no longer required, the equipment can be rapidly demobilised and re-deployed elsewhere."
