Aggreko to power Petrobras refinery
extension
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil -
Aggreko, the global leader in the provision of temporary power and
temperature control services, will support the integrated energy
company Petrobras as it extends the production capacity of the
Duque de Caxias Refinery (REDUC).
Aggreko will provide 3.8 MVA of power for
Petrobras, which is building three new spheres (PG 81, 82 and 83)
for the storage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), also known as
“cooking gas”. Currently, the refinery has a production capacity of
5,400 cubic metres per day of LPG and the expansion of the LPG
storage facilities will enable Petrobras to double this capacity.
The expansion project will cost USD1.5 billion and is forecast to
be completed in 2012.
Diogenes Paoli Neto, Director of Aggreko
International, South America, commented: “Our partnership with
Petrobras is now entering its fifth year and this latest project is
an excellent example of the trust and understanding that has been
established between the two companies. By providing a turn-key
power rental solution to Petrobras, we are able to allow them to
focus on the extension of the REDUC refinery, leaving all power
aspects of the project to us.”
Aggreko is the largest supplier of temporary
power for Petrobras in Campos Basin, Rio de Janeiro. The
partnership between Aggreko and the state-owned company started in
2005, when Aggreko supplied 1250 kVA and 800 kVA generators to
local platforms over a two-year period.
